Overview What is it?![]() The Kamehameha Highway Improvements Project is a program by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services (DTS), and elected officials from the area to develop and implement for Kamehameha Highway safety, appearance, and traffic flow improvements from Waihona Street (Sam's Club near Pearl City) to Center Drive (Hickam Air Force Base). The Kamehameha Highway Improvements Project Task Force has worked with corridor issues and constraints to identify projects for short term implementation. With funds already appropriated, HDOT and DTS have begun to implement projects addressing issues important to the community. This process of close community involvement to implement a new collaborative, interdisciplinary approach is becoming known as the Context Sensitive Solutions approach. What are the project goals?
